Yes I remember thinking at the time of Baptism was I dedicating my life to the men at Brooklyn? the thought kind of lay there uneasily in the back of my mind. It just didn't feel right somehow but a lot of things never felt quite right I just couldn't figure out what was wrong until much later.

You are correct Terry the Jah Jireh homes are not a product of the Watchtower Organisation they are a product of certain JWs coming to terms with old age by originally turning a guest house into a care home which according to historical statements from Brooklyn wasn't supposed to happen the irony of it though is the fact that every one concerned with the running of the homes including the ones who live in them do not seem to stop and question the fact why hasn't the New World shown up and with each passing year new arrivals are admitted to be taken care of . You would think that the trustees would check with the Watchtower Org. to find out exactly how many more generations of old folk will have to be cared for.

Do they ever reflect on how ridiculous they appear. Turn the comment around and it is obvious to everyone but themselves that by the same token to deny giving blood causes people to die . How dumb can they get?

There are a lot around here with this complaint never knew what it was until now but at last I can put a name to a face.
I think I suffered with it intermitently between the age of 15 and 20.
Put off that full of doubt look put on a happy face and spread sunshine all over the place.

Fading ... and Feeling Lost
by What Now? inprior to that we had been in a new congregation for about 9 months, and we were just irregular.
my husband rarely went, and i would go occasionally with our toddler son just enough to show our faces and keep the elders off our backs, and for the sake of some friendships in our old hall.
all of the reasons i had for going were just no longer important.

I know it doesn't work for every ex witness or fader but one of the best things I ever did which happened years after I left the Borg I started going to a local church near where I live it wasn't a perfect experience nothing ever is but it made me realise just how brainwashed and unloving the meetings at the Kingdom Hall were.
It opened up a whole new way of fellowship with some very interesting and varied individuals some who were not my cup of tea and some who I could get on with very well which is how it should be in all walks of life it gave me a new interest and a way of communicating with others .There were cliques and petty disagreements which is normal within a group but there was a definite sense of freedom which is totally lacking amongst the Witnesses I felt as if I was amongst normal human beings with various human traits and above all regardless of all our faults there was an element of love for mankind so lacking in the horrible cult which I left behind.
There was also a love and respect for the well being of women and children and an atmosphere of the need to nuture love and respect for all mankind .I also noticed an emphasis on music as part of worship which to me was uplifting what a contrast from the sterile Witness worship where they are constantly trying to prove that they are right all the time.
All I can say is try it and if if its not quite right for you try another church but don't give up because I think you could get fulfillment from it.

It's a charity shop they get it on the cheap.Business rates low or none existant .Some towns in the UK allow shops to open for a short time at subsidised costs to encourage trade.
It could be a great place for any so called apostates to inform the "staff" just where they are going wrong following the blind. Ask them if they are going to open a food bank while they are at it.

Good post Terry somebody gave me a Watchtower map once I ended up lost for a few years I threw it out eventually never been as lost since.
